Van-Mahotsava
Date: 18/07/2013
The
fact that the inspired authors of the Vedic hymns celebrated seers of the
upanishand, the bedrock of DAV movement, were all forest dwellers accounted for
the great enthusiasm and the sense of
commitment with which DAV Hazaribag celebrates Van Mahotsava .So it was with
the 64rd Van Mahotsava – The Forest Festival so to say-which was
celebreated in collaboration with the Department of Forest , Hazaribag(East). Apart
from the inspiration for the event being rooted to Vedic tradition , it also
came from the DAV perception of plantation and saving of trees being the chief
means of averting the ecological disaster looming ahead.
DAVPS
Hazaribag has created quite an awesome record of distributing an average of five
thousand saplings a year over the past several years as part of the Van
Mahotsava.
The
Chief Guest Hon. Dr. A. K. Malhotra, PCCF, Jharkhand said that he liked
visiting the DAV School so much that he wished to be a student of the school if
he were a child. Addressing the students, he urged them to make the
conservation of trees as their one of the core values. And he also suggested
them never to compromise with such core values in life. Simple living and high
thinking must be their motto in the life. He asked the audience whether they
like a green, living, and vibrant earth or a scorched ,dreary and dead one.
Hon.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar, IFS, RCCF Hazaribag
(East) was lavish in praise for the DAV Family for their deep
involvement and support for organizing the VAN Mahotsava. Quoting the lines of
Sumitra Nandan Pant , the great Hindi poet, he stressed that the natural beauty
always remains incomparable. Further, he said that plantation is not merely
planting a sapling rather it is an act of creation which gives immense pleasure to the persons
involved in it. It was high time to proceed in right earnest with the espousal
of the noble cause of plantation as this holds the key to the protection of
environment which in turn meant the betterment
of the nation. He also urged the people
to preserve the existing forests and to take proper care of the saplings being
planted.
Hon’ble
Shri Dr. D.K. Srivastava, APCCF ,(Development) Ranchi was all praise for the
skits presented by students of DAV School, he urged them to play an active role
in the conservation of floura and fauna.

our mother but we humans have the tendency of “use and throw” which is destructive
of the environment . She was also felicitated for her wonderful speech.
