Mahatma Hansraj Jayanti

The Mahatma Hansraj Jayanti was celebrated on the premises of DAV Public School, Hazaribag with active and willing participation of students on 19/04/2014. To mark the occasion, a special hawan was organized followed by Hindi Speech, Quiz and Painting Competitions.

The Principal of the school Shri Ashok Kumar welcomed the Chief Guest and said in his inaugural speech that whatever Einstein remarked about Mahatma Gandhi the same was applicable with Hansraj who rendered his selfless service in the interest of mankind. He worked as Principal for 25 years without taking even a single penny merely to enlighten the people from their deep slumber of illiteracy. He felt that education was the key to al-round development of mankind.

The Chief Guest Shri Shiv Dayal Singh-an eminent scholar and the founder Principal of Markham College of Commerce, Hazaribag  expressed his feeling saying that the Hansraj’s religion was the religion of mankind as it teaches us to be prompt to serve the needy and helpless people. Highliting the life history of Hansraj, he said that the former went to serve the affected people willingly wherever the natural calamities like famine, flood occurred. His selfless action gives a new nobility to human life.

Anvita Priyam of std.XC speaking on the occasion emphasized that the Mahatma Hansraj’s story gives us a strong message of sacrifice, sincerity, devotion to the cause and a new hope for humanity if his ideals are followed in man’s  life in letter and spirit. And the same would be the real tribute to this great soul of India. Born on 19th April, 1864 at Hoshiyarpur village, Punjab Hansraj , before leaving for heavenly abode on 15th November,1938 in Lahore, did innumerable deeds  throughout his life. 
Riya Bhardwaj of  XC and Shantanu of IX G quizzed the students with the questions  based on Hansraj’s life history and his contributions for the society. A very healthy response of the students was noticed.

Under the guidance of Mr. Umesh Gupta and Mr. Kunal Goswami the beautiful portraits of Mahatma Hansraj were prepared and displayed by Debanjali Mahto (VIII C)- 1st , Vishal Kumar (VIII A)-2nd and Tushar Kumar (VIII B)-3rd  other participants.

Mr. N. N. Pandey the teacher of Sanskrit co-ordinated and concluded the program with the Shanti path.
