18-July-2012

The fact that the inspired authors of the Vedic hymns celebrated seers of the upanishand, the bedrock of DAV movement, were all forest dwellers accounted for the great enthusiasm and the sense of commitment with which DAV Hazaribag celebrates Van Mahotsava So it was with the 63rd Van Mahotsava – The Forest Festival so to say-which was celebreated in collaboration with the Department of Forest , Hazaribag(East). Apart from the inspiration for the event being rooted to vedic tradition , it also came from the DAV perception of plantation and saving of trees being the chief means of averting the ecological disaster looming ahead.
DAVPS Hazaribag has created quite an awesome record of distributing an average of fine thousand saplings a year over the past several years as part of the Van Mahotsava.
The Chief Guest Hon. Saurav Narayan Singh, MLA Hazaribag said that he always liked visiting the DAV School as this is the only school which  emphasizes   all round development of the children who, he said, are the future of the nation. He asked the audience  whether they like a green, living, and vibrant earth or a scorched ,dreary and dead one. . He was all praise for the department of forest for their exceptional work in the field of plantation. He promised to make Hazaribag town a complete educational hub in the days to come.
Hon. Dr. Pradeep Kumar,  IFS, RCCF Hazaribag (East) was lavish in      praise for the DAV Family for their deep involvement and support for organizing the VAN Mahotsava. Speaking on the occasion, he said that plantation is not merely planting a sapling rather it is an act of creation  which gives immense pleasure to the persons involved in it. It was high time to proceed in right earnest with the espousal of the noble cause of plantation as this holds the key to the protection of environment which in turn meant  the betterment of the nation.  He also urged the people to preserve the existing forests and to take proper care of the saplings being planted.
Sri N.K Singh DFO spoke on the importance of VAN MAHOTSAVA and encouraged the students to play  an active role in conservation of the flora and the fauna.
Sri Satya Prakash the great environmentalist said that nature always works in its own way, it has its own metabolic process which needs to be respected at every cost.
Hon. Sri Mahabir Lal Vishawakarma- Former M.P Hazaribag said that our great sages and saints always took shelter in the forests where they gave the knowledge to their disciples who further spread it among the people. Nature is our mother but we humans have the tendency of “use and throw” which is destructive of the environment .
Shri Ashok Kumar, Principal, DAV Public School, Hazaribag proposed the vote of thanks to the chief guest & the distinguished guest for their valuable speech. He also expressed his sincere thanks  to  the dignitaries present on the occasion, persons from electronic & print media and for making the function a grand success. He said that the program had generated great awareness among the students  regarding the importance of trees and had also given them a great message to ensure their active and willing participation in plantation work.
To mark the occasion events like debate, slogan writing and the painting were organized and the winners were felicitated.
The dignitaries present on the occasssion included Dr. H.L Saha, the social activist, Sri. Ranjan Kumar Jain, Vice-President L.M.C DAV, R. Thanaga Pandeyan DFO, Hazaribag, Ravindra Mishra, Wild Life Division, Sri R.P Mehta, Dr. Bhaskaran, Sri Dinesh Khandelwal etc. apart from a no. of parents and the students
